Te Anau Basin - development plan
Te Kāinga Mīharo - The home of wonder
Te hauka te ahi - A stranger who stays longer will get to know the hosts better.
This development plan is the next step in delivering on the outcomes and requirements outlined in the Fiordland Community Board plan completed in 2020 and takes key aspects of the Milford Opportunities Project into consideration.
The Te Anau Basin, located in Fiordland, harbours one of the most majestic natural landscapes of New Zealand with Piopiotahi/ Milford Sound being one of the most sought-after tourist destinations in the Southern Hemisphere.
The Te Anau basin has a small community, but the people who live there are well connected, and welcome visitors to share their pride of the beautiful environment they live in.
This development plan has been created with the community and its sole purpose is to assist the community board with creating a cohesive urban plan for the future that aligns with the vision of the Fiordland Community Futures Plan.
The posters of the development plan and supporting materials are up on the walls in the Te Anau library’s wifi room.
