Consultation – adopt the Code of Practice & revoke the Bylaw May 2023

This is your opportunity to let us know what you think by lodging a submission.

Consultation documents are available through Invercargill City Council’s consultation webpage https://letstalk.icc.govt.nz/ and at your local Southland District Council office.

Consultation documents include the draft Code of Practice, a Statement of Proposal to revoke the Bylaw, District Plan change documents, and details on how to make a submission.

Submissions can be made via https://letstalk.icc.govt.nz/. Other methods to make a submission are detailed on the ICC webpage and in the consultation documents. All submissions must be appropriately labelled, and give the submitter’s name and contact details. Submissions received will be made available to the public.

The consultation will commence on Monday 8 May 2023 and submissions will be due by Thursday 5pm 8 June 2023.

Consultation - District Plan Process

Please note that submissions for the District Plan will also be undertaken through Southland District Council’s consultation channels.

In terms of lodging a submission, please send your written submission to Southland District Council at the address below or by email to DP@southlanddc.govt.nz. The submission must be on the prescribed Form 5 and must state whether or not you wish to be heard on your submission. Copies of Form 5 are available from the Southland District Council offices or found online at https://letstalk.icc.govt.nz/. 

Alternatively, you can lodge a submission online at https://letstalk.icc.govt.nz/.

Note: Anybody can make a submission on the proposed changes. However, if a person making a submission is set to gain a commercial advantage over a competitor, then a submission can only be made on any potential adverse effects on the environment that the proposal might have, and not the effects that the proposal will have on trade competition.

Further submissions sought July 2023

The joint Hearing Committee recommend amending the proposed version of the Subdivision, Land Use, and Development Code of Practice 2023. The last version is available here.

Currently, we are running another public consultation process. Particularly, we are asking for further submission to the proposed plan change 2 to give effect to the new Code of Practice.

In this new submission process, any person can make a further submission to support or oppose part or all of an original submission described in the Summary of Submissions.

Submissions must be presented using Form 6 from Thursday, 13th July, until Friday, 28th July 2023. Form 6 must be lodged by email (DP@southlanddc.govt.nz) or to the address below:
